Never doing that again,

So I have been wearing for years, intact more than I care to remember. But up until now I have never tried messing. I am not sure why I did try, but lets just say, I am never doing it again. I have so much respect for people like Adrian from "I heart diapers" who has to deal with it as a fact of life everyday. I would not be able to handle it! Eeek! Respect.

Armchair environmentalist

So I have been having an ongoing rant with a guy that I work with about climate change. Normally I am a pretty passive person and don't get into philosophical topics such as this, but one thing has been bugging me. Before we go further I just want to say that I am a firm believer in climate change and I am trying to change my life so I can make a difference. For instance, I chose a car insurance that will offset the carbon it makes for a certain number of kilometres per year, When I can I wear bio degradable diaper inserts and I am a firm believer in using cloth diapers and plastic pants ( not just for the environmental benefits :D ) these are just a few things that I do everyday to help make a difference, even if its is small. My colleague who I call an arm chair environmentalist is continually going on about climate change and how it's going to destroy everything, but will not change his lifestyle to make a difference. On top of that, he is almost a climate change alarmist, wildly making huge statements that the world will "implode because the mass of the earth is changing" or something stupid like that. For once I would love to find out where he gets these wild ideas from, I can only assume its in the "huger number of blogs and newspaper articles that I read everyday". I love the fact that people believe what mainstream media prints and that someone so "dedicated to the cause" would not bother to educate himself with proper scientific journals so he can learn about how climate change will really effect us and what he can do to help fight it.

In saying that, I love the guy to death and he is a great friend. I guess if you can have a sustained argument over a period of days and still be talking and joking round the friendship is in pretty safe hands :-)

Anyway, I have just order a new "concealer shirt" from Babykins (or an onesie for all you AB's) and a couple of pairs of basic plastic pants from B4ns. Nothing cool unfortunately, but I have been needing some new work attire for a while and I was bored. At the moment I cant get enough of suprima plastic pants, I think it's mostly the range that makes them so appealing, what is everyone else using?

Wow

So I went to pick up my diaper shopping today and chucked it in the car and went straight to work. There is something about knowing you have a whole bunch of cool new diapers to try out and your stuck all day at work. Anyway, after plenty of mucking around, I got home this evening and snuck in my boxes of new diapers while my house mates were occupied. I tell you, diapers and house mates is tough, especially when they don't know and you have absolutely no desire to tell them :P but thats a story for next time.

Anyway the first thing I did was open a pack of the Abena pull-ups that I was talking about. Let me say they are AMAZING. Possibly the best fitting pull up I have ever tried, and to top it of they are incredibly comfortable. The fabric that they are made from feels like satin against your skin. So I will post some pics tomorrow and let you know how they perform, but so far so good =)

New diapers!

Hi All,

Finally it's starting to get cooler, thank god! If you haven't already picked up, I am not a summer person whatsoever. Normally this time of the year is still pretty hot, luckily enough we have been getting a lot of rain. In fact we have had so much, I cant remember when the last time it rained for the better part of 2 weeks straight. There are a lot of people who I am sure are very happy to see the rain. The rain has reached much further inland which is fantastic for our farmers who have been in drought for decades. Unfortunately with the good there is always the bad, a lot of the eastern part of Australia has been effected by sever flash flooding (Melbourne) and very serious flooding in Queensland. Anyways enoughabout the weather.

So I am about to try out some new diapers, I have just done some shopping and stocked up on my regulars, Tena super slips and Abri-form extra but I have also decided to try out some pullups. I have been wearing Eenee Pants with flushable inserts all summer and have been really loving the convenience and the fact that I can wear them to work without feeling overly paranoid, So I thought I would try out Abena abrflex special.

I have used pullups before like the Tena pants but never really liked the fit, they were always really loose feeling. I love the tightness of regular diapers so I think this always made it had to make the change. Also the capacity was average and they leaked which forced me to wear plastic pants which is not always convenient.

So anyways, I will keep you updated and I will post some pics when I get them in a couple of days.
